As Finland has Matka, Latvia has Balttour for 14th time, one of the biggest travel and tourism fairs in North Europe. Balttour 2007 takes place 9th – 11th February in Riga with more than 300 participating enterprises from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Turkey, Greece, Check Republik, Poland etc. Last year  fair enjoyed more than 18 000 visitors. This year shows new tendency – there are participants from Ukraina, Georgia, Croatia and Byelorussia. These markets are becomming more and more popular between travelers  from Baltic states. This year many Estonian resorts (spa hotels) have came to show Latvians and other what they have to offer. One resort I have to mention is newly opened (in last December) Grand Rose SPA hotel in Saremaa, Estonia. It`s exclusive and luxurious place, not as big as Baltic Beach Hotel in Jurmala, Latvia, but with the same beauty.

Participants from Greece (up). Hostel beds (lovely idea).

From Latvia there were Baltic Beach Hotel, Hotel Jurmala Spa, Hotel Jelgava, Day&Night (first completely Latvian three star hotel chain, first hotel to be opened this year in Bauska), Hotel Laine and some other hostels and accomodations. Above and below You can see some photos from first day (for profesionals) of Balttour: Baltic Beach Hotel (top) and Hotel Jurmala Spa (bottom) showing off themselves. I shall say that these were some of the nicest hotel stands.
